The Symphony of Southeast Texas music director Chelsea Tipton II stakes his claim to become Greensboro Symphony's new music director in a concert full of dynamism and excitement! The performance will be the final concert in Greensboro's Masterworks: Season of the Seven series, in which seven world-class conductors heeded the call to lead the orchestra through a number of thrilling concerts in a bid to find Greensboro's new Music Director. Think American Idol for conductors, in which each gives a taster of what they can offer, and you decide upon the ideal candidate!
Greensboro native Tipton brings a wealth of experience to the podium, having appeared with many of the nation's best orchestras including the National Symphony Orchestra, Cleveland Orchestra and Nashville Symphony. He's also toured internationally conducting the orchestras backing pop icon Sting and appeared with Greensboro Symphony in 2021 in this role. His program for Season of the Seven wonderfully shows his versatility, with selections from Strauss' Der Rosenkavalier, Edward Elgar's Pomp and Circumstance and Max Bruch's Scottish Fantasy, as well as Amen! by Carlos Simon.
